Planting Perfect Rows

High quality seed in storage in the warehouse is run through a machine that cuts them in pieces and coats them with a powder that protects the seed pieces, called sets, from rotting in the ground.

A predetermined blend of granular fertilizer is picked up from the local fertilizer plant and trucked to the field where it is broadcast over the field at a rate determined by soil analysis. The potato sets are trucked out to the field from the warehouse. A conveyor fills the planter with potato sets and a blend of “in-furrow” fertilizer. A Tractor pulls a tillage implement to make a soft and loose bed for the seed to be placed in. The Planter goes behind and places the seed at the proper spacing in the rich soil. Four rows 3 feet apart are planted every pass down the field. The planter is reloaded as needed.
